For anyone feeling a bit lost right now, read this.
Feeling lost doesn’t mean you’re failing.
Most of the time, it means you’re between versions of yourself.
No one talks enough about the in-between phase—the season where the old version of you no longer fits, but the next one hasn’t fully taken shape yet. It can feel uncomfortable, confusing, and scattered, but it’s also where real change begins.
For me, that feeling became very real after being diagnosed with cancer in 2024. I spent the last two years in recovery, and trying to return to “normal life” hasn’t been simple. I’ve felt unfocused at times, unsure of direction. But with some reflection, I realized I’m not lost, I’m transitioning. I’m moving from survival mode back into building, working, and creating again. Figuring out what’s important to me. The thoughts that feel scattered are really just signs of growth and problem solving. I’m shedding old habits, priorities, and ideas that no longer serve me, and becoming someone new in the process.
Relabeling feeling “lost” as being in a transition has helped me feel more at peace with my situation. It better reflects what’s actually happening - not being broken, just becoming something new.
The same goes for relationships, routines, goals, and identity. Feeling lost is often just the mind catching up to the person you’re becoming.
Feeling lost is often a signal:
You’ve outgrown something.
Your priorities have shifted.
You’re being pushed to build differently this time.
You don’t need the full map right now.
You just need to keep walking.
The Reframe:
Do not rush to make sudden changes just because you feel uncomfortable.
Feeling lost is not a signal to blow everything up.
You do not need to quit your career.
You do not need to start over.
You do not need to make a life altering decision from a temporary emotion.
Instead, pay close attention to where your energy naturally goes.
Notice what pulls you in.
Notice what drains you.
Notice which environments make you feel more like yourself and which ones take you further away from the person you want to become.
Progress starts with awareness.
Small steps matter more than dramatic moves.
Trying one thing.
Exploring one interest.
Making one adjustment.
Not everything requires a commitment.
Some things just require curiosity.
At the same time, be honest about your triggers. The habits, conversations, or situations that consistently leave you feeling worse. You do not have to cut everything out at once. Just create a little distance.
Clarity grows when you protect your energy and give it somewhere meaningful to go.
The Challenge:
Pay attention to your energy.
Notice one moment this week where you feel more like yourself.
And one moment where you feel less like yourself.
No changes required.
No decisions to make.
Just notice.
Awareness is the first step toward direction.
Closing Thoughts
Direction is built slowly through attention, not urgency.
By noticing what pulls you forward.
By stepping back from what pulls you away.
Nothing is broken.
You are not behind.
You are simply learning yourself more honestly than before.
And that kind of clarity always comes with time.
Share this with someone who’s pushing through challenges, chasing improvement, or rebuilding themselves. You never know, this might be exactly what they need to hear today.

Until next time.
